Black and Brown Murano Glass Sculpted Teardrop Bead on Silk Cord

A stunning blown Murano glass bead in shades of brown, black and white on clear glass. It measures 65MM (2 1/2"), with a depth of 25MM and is paired with a black hand dyed silk cord. This is really a seasonless piece.

This mouth blown authentic Murano Glass bead is made using a special, labor intensive technique that is applied to the bead after they are blown and annealled. The effect is known as battuto in Muranese. It is much like the old chevron beads where the mosaico canes were ground to reveal the colors underneath. This new series of colors were designed by Benda, an Italian glassblower.

Above and below the bead are antique brass filigree bead caps. Nestled at the top of the bead is a 5MM jet AB Swarovski crystal bicone.

The pairing with the silk cord really makes the bead pop. The necklace measures 18". The pendant drop measures 3 1/2" from the top of the sterling silver bail.

Sterling silver wire, bail and lobster clasp. The clasp measures 14". A heavy sterling silver split ring is used for extra security.
